Russia cements its crude market share in Asia by expanding pipeline to China
Report summary
With the expansion of the ESPO pipeline to China and plans to export more non-ESPO Russian crude to China via Kazakhstan, Russia's market share in China is going to grow and get more secure. Higher ESPO exports to Asia will require more Russian production to be diverted from west to east, which will affect Russia's Urals crude market in Europe in terms of both volume and quality. Higher Russian crude exports to China would then reduce the market opportunity for other crude exporters to China.
