Vitol acquires stake in Sarroch Saras; which EU refinery transactions could be next?
Report summary
On 11th February 2024, Saras shareholders entered into a sale and purchase agreement with Vitol B.V. for approximately 35% share of Saras. Saras owns the 316 kb/d Sardinian Sarroch Saras integrated refinery which has an IGCC unit providing nearly 50% of Sardinia’s power. Vitol’s purchase of Saras values the business at 1.7 €B – is this a fair price for a European refinery? Can the site’s IGCC provide long-term commercial survivability despite its large emissions? What is the trend in refinery transactions and who’s next? Please find the pdf report in the ‘Report downloads’ section on the right-hand side’
