The Woodford Shale is present across multiple basins in Oklahoma. While the core, most mature area is located in the Arkoma Basin, Woodford development has expanded into the adjacent Ardmore and Anadarko basins as well. Newfield is credited with discovering and developing the play and remains the leading producer.
