Asset Report
Clarence Moreton CBM unconventional play
Report summary
This report has been moved to inactive as of February, the last CBM activity in the Clarence-Moreton basin occurred in 2013. These reports will no longer be updated. For more information contact the analyst. With domestic gas supply shortfalls predicted in eastern Australia and strong gas prices driven by LNG netbacks, the play offers opportunities for incremental supply into the domestic market. The basin covers over 26,000 km2 onshore. The coals are an extension of the Walloon Coals found in the Surat Basin, but they have lower permeability and will require horizontal wells to be developed. Environmental and regulatory restrictions remain the biggest hurdle for development in the Clarence Moreton Basin.
