Pemex estimates a huge potential in the Jurassic La Casita/Pimienta formation, while previously efforts have been focused on the gas potential of the Creataceous Eagle Ford extension, recent drilling campaign in La Casita/Pimienta formation has shown promising results. Our analysis shows that the tight oil potential of the Pimienta formation has a better commercialization outlook than does Mexican shale gas.
