The Georgina Basin is a frontier tight oil resource play located primarily in the Northern Territory (NT) of Australia.  The entire Georgina Basin covers more than 264,000 square kilometres although the Arthur Creek ‘hot shale' is the focal point for tight oil exploration and covers an area of nearly 15,000 square kilometre (3.7 million acres) in the southern portion of the basin – an area also referred to as the Southern Georgina Basin.
