The Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (TMS) is an emerging tight oil resource play located along Mississippi's southern border with Louisiana. The Cretaceous-aged play is the stratigraphic equivalent to the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas, although the mineralogy differs considerably. Specifically, the TMS is higher in silica and clay than the Eagle Ford Shale.
