The Block 7 (Abu al Tabool) contract area is located in central west Oman, bordering Saudi Arabia. Historically, production primarily came from the Sahmah field, where the main reservoir is the Gharif sandstone. However, the majority of production now comes from Sahmah East, discovered in 2019.Production commenced in the 1980s at Sahmah and Ramlat.
