Report summary
The Agadem Block is in the East Niger Rift Basin. Exploration started in the 1970s, but the two main oil fields - Goumeri and Agadi - were discovered in 1990 and 1994.In 2008, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) signed a production sharing contract (PSC) to develop the fields. In 2013, Taiwan refiner CPC and the government of Niger acquired 20% and 15% stakes in the licence respectively.
