Alba is a giant gas/condensate field that came onstream in 1991 and marked Equatorial Guinea's debut as a hydrocarbon producer. The field is operated by Marathon Oil. It is the sole supplier of feedgas to Equatorial Guinea's LNG plant. The initial Alba development involved production of condensate and LPG, with any remaining gas flared. In mid-1993, condensate production was increased after an upgrade of the onshore facilities, and in 1997 the LPG plant capacity was expanded.
