The Arman heavy oil field is owned and operated by Hong Kong-registered Leader Way Corporation. It is located in southwest Kazakhstan next to the large Kalamkas field. Oil production is around 900 b/d, following the successful drilling of one new well in 2025, which increased output. Development has been complicated by Arman's location in the Caspian Sea transition zone and its low-quality crude. Most oil is refined and sold domestically.
