The Badra field, located in the Wasit province of Iraq, is around 150 kilometres southeast of Baghdad and straddles the border with Iran where it is known as the Azar field. It was discovered on the Iraqi side in 1979, but the development didn't start until Gazpromneft and its partners were awarded a technical service contract (TSC) in 2010.
