Barsa Gelmes and Kotur Tepe are the largest onshore oil fields in Turkmenistan, but are now at an advanced stage of depletion. The state-owned fields are located in western Turkmenistan, on the same trend as the huge Azeri Chirag Guneshli field (Azerbaijan) and PETRONAS' offshore Block 1 (Turkmenistan).
