The Basrah Gas Company (BGC) joint venture owns and operates the midstream infrastructure that processes associated gas from the Rumaila, West Qurna 1 and Zubair, oil fields as well as small volumes from the Tuba and Luhais oil fields in southern Iraq. In May 2013, when BGC began operations, the effective processing capacity was 460 mmcfd. Through various maintenance and expansions, processing capacity will increase to 1.4 bcfd of raw gas in 2024.
