Decommissioning activities in Brazil during the 2020s will require at least US$14.5 billion. Petrobras’ exclusivity in the past means the NOC will pay the bulk of this amount. However, abandonment spends are still modest when compared to the development investment expected for the same period. This report also looks at the regulatory angle and what definitions are still required to avoid bottlenecks.
