The Burg El Arab fields are located in the east Egypt's Western Desert,16 kilometres south of Marina El Alamein.Burg El Arab was discovered in 1996 by an Egyptian company- Gharib Oil Services and brought onstream in 1997. The smaller Burg El Arab North field was discovered in 2009 and came onstream a year later.The fields are mature although output has been maintained at over 1,000 b/d through infill drilling and workovers. Oil is piped to the Alamein field facilities for processing.
