Cardenas-Mora

The Cardenas and Mora fields are located about 55 km north of Villahermosa. The fields will be offered as one of the JV opportunities available with Pemex.Cardenas and Mora are part of the Bellota-Jujo business unit. The Cardenas and Mora fields are located in the Reforma-Akal uplift in an area of around 175 km2. The Reforma-Akal uplift lies between the Comalcalco and Macuspana Basin, and corresponds onshore to the plunging nose of the Sierra de Chiapas. In this uplift, northeast compressional stresses, as well as flowage of a deeply buried horizon of the Callovian salt, gave rise to huge petroleum-bearing anticlines, faulted and often overturned, that comprise two of Mexico's most important producing provinces accounting for 90% of the country's daily production. The main plays are in the Cretaceous-Upper Jurassic Kimmeridgian section, where dolomitization and fracturing have enhanced reservoir quality.
