Report summaryChengbei is a small, heavy oil field located in the Bohai Gulf, about 75 kilometres southeast of Tanggu. The field was originally put on extended production test by the Bohai Oil Corporation in 1977, but production ceased in 1981 due to technical problems. Production restarted from the field in November 1985, following an agreement with a Japanese consortium in May 1980, to provide technical and financial support to the project.
