The CPE-6 block is located in the southern Llanos basin and multiple stratigraphic wells have established the presence of heavy oil. Under Frontera Energy's operatorship, the company received approval for the environmental permit required to move forward with the appraisal and development of the licence in 2013. In late 2013, Frontera drilled the CPE-6-1X exploration and the CPE6H-2 appraisal well. Both wells were completed and put on extended production test.
