The Cygnus gas field lies in the in the Southern Gas Basin over 200 kilometres east of Middlesborough. Cygnus started production in December 2016 and is one of the UK's largest gas producers. The field has three bridge-linked manned platforms, collectively known as Cygnus Alpha. In addition, there is a unmanned satellite platform, Cygnus Bravo, located seven kilometres to the northwest.
