Dunga

Report summary

The Dunga oil field is located in the Mangyshlak Basin, 50 kilometres north of Aktau. The asset is operated by Maersk Oil & Gas and has been onstream since 2000. Investment in Dunga Phase II has been ongoing since 2012. This new project had initially included the drilling of almost 200 new wells by 2016. However, following the drop in oil price, Maersk Oil decided to slow down its drilling programme and simplify its infield infrastructure setup. The operator is now targeting significantly lower oil output over the next few years before ramping output up as the oil price environment improves.
