Report summary
The Tello contract area encompasses the mature Tello oil field and the smaller La Jagua oil field, both of which are producing. Ecopetrol has been concentrating recent efforts on decline management through a water injector pilot project. The key challenge has been to try to improve the distribution of the water within the reservoir as well as to optimize the well patterns. Production from the Tello field commenced in late 1972. The nearby La Jagua discovery was tied back in 1987.
