The Bouri oil field is located offshore Libya. Discovered in 1977 by Azienda Generale Italiana Petroli (Agip) - now Eni- Bouri was appraised extensively and developed in the 1980s using two platforms, horizontal drilling and subsea tie-backs. Agip re-negotiated the contract terms in 1993 to make further field development commercially attractive.The operator implemented the Phase I optimisation programme in 2006 to maintain production at 60,000 to 70,000 b/d.
