Report summaryThe Gassi Touil fields comprise eight large wet gas fields located in the west of the Berkine Sub-Basin, in southeast Algeria. The fields were discovered in the 1960s, though only Gassi Touil, Nezla and Hassi Touareg were brought onstream. A 2004 contract with Repsol for an integrated LNG project was cancelled in 2007 due to lack of progress, after which Sonatrach chose to develop the fields alone.
