The Gebang block is located on the northeast coast of Sumatra and holds a number of small onshore and offshore fields. Production came from the Arbei Shallow field which was brought onstream in October 1992, but ceased production in 2015. The Anggor and Secanggang gas discoveries are estimated to hold around 100 bcf of gas. A Heads of Agreement (HoA) for the sale of 28 bcf of gas from the Anggor field was signed in October 2007. Conceptual development began in 2014 as the Indonesian government extended the existing contract of the Gebang JOA, which was scheduled to expire in November 2015. The block was extended under a PSC contract for another 20 years, as PERTAMINA decided to discontinue the joint-operatorship of the block.
