The Goliat field was the first oil discovery in the Norwegian Barents Sea. It is an oil and associated gas field located 50 kilometres southeast of the Snøhvit field on the eastern margin of the Hammerfest Basin. The development plan was approved in mid-2009 and production started in 2016. The field has been developed with subsea infrastructure tied back to the Sevan 1000 circular-hull FPSO. Gas export is expected to start in the early 2030s.
