The Greater Nile Oil Project north (GNOP north) is a development located in Block 2B in the Muglad Basin, 750 kilometres southwest of Khartoum. The Greater Nile Oil Project (GNOP) originally consisted of five blocks which now straddle the Sudan - South Sudan border.The GNOP was operated by Chevron until it pulled out of Sudan in 1992 amid civil unrest.
