Halfaya

Report summary

Halfaya is a medium-heavy oil field located in the Missan province, 130 kilometres north of Basra. The main reservoir is the Mishrif which produces heavy oil, although oil is produced from several different formations. It was discovered in the 1970s but remained largely undeveloped until the award of a technical service contract (TSC) in 2010. The field is operated by PetroChina in a joint venture with Total and PETRONAS.
