The Hassi Mouina gas fields are located in southwest Algeria, 260 kilometres northwest of the In Salah Development. Sonatrach discovered the Hassi Tidjerane field on the block in April 2004 before it was offered in the exploration bid round later that year. The block was keenly contested with seven bids received and was awarded to Statoil.
