The Heather and Broom fields are located in the Northern North Sea, 25-kilometres west of the Ninian field. Heather was discovered in 1972 while Broom was discovered in 1973. Heather was developed with a fixed steel platform and Broom as a subsea tie-back to the Heather 'Alpha' platform. The Broom development comprises the West Heather and North Terrace structures. In October 2019, the fields were shut-in due to safety concerns but production was expected to restart in 2020. However, following the oil price collapse, EnQuest announced in March 2020 that production from Heather and Broom would not restart. P&A of the Heather wells was completed in Q1 2025 and the platform was downmanned in April 2025. The platform topsides were removed in August 2025 by the Pioneering Spirit heavy lift vessel in a single lift and transported them to Frederikshavn in Denmark for recycling. EnQuest is targeting removal of the upper jacket by 2027.
