The Huabei Oil Fields complex is located in the northwestern region of the North China basin. The Renqiu oil field, discovered in 1975, is the largest by both production and reserves. Oil output from the Huabei complex peaked at 348,000 b/d in 1979 and had produced over 202,000 b/d for the ten years thereafter.
