Report summary
The Ikhil gas field is the first commercial natural gas development in the Mackenzie Delta region. The field is located 50 kilometres to the northwest of the town of Inuvik. It was discovered in 1986 by Inuvialuit Petroleum and began producing in 1999 after a six-inch underground pipeline was laid to transport gas from two wells to Inuvik.
