Coal bed methane (CBM) fields are concentrated in the central and eastern states of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Notable projects include Raniganj East (Essar), Raniganj South (GEECL) and Sohagpur West & East (Reliance), all of which are onstream.
