The Junín 5 block is located in the middle of Venezuela's Orinoco Heavy Oil Belt (also known as the Faja). The Faja is the world's largest heavy oil deposit with estimated commercial oil reserves of 235 billion barrels. Eni signed a deal with PDVSA in 2008 to study development options at Junín 5.
