Report summary
Junin 6 is located in Venezuela's Orinoco Heavy Oil Belt (also known as the Faja). The Faja is the world's largest heavy oil deposit with oil in place of 1,300 billion barrels. The empresa mixta PetroMiranda was formed to develope Junin 6 in 2010. Production began in 2012.Challenging project economics have recently resulted in production decline, with PDVSA increasingly facing financial challenges after the US sanctions were imposed in 2019.
