Report summary

Equinor and SOCAR signed a Risk Service Agreement (RSA) in May 2018 to appraise and develop the offshore Karabakh oil and gas field. Under the new contract, the field will be operated by a 50:50 joint operating company. We expect Karabakh to be an oil-led project, with first production from a new platform in the early 2020s. The field lies in shallow water, around 15 kilometres northeast of the super-giant Azeri Chirag Guneshli (ACG) field.
