Report summary
The Ketapang PSC lies in the East Java Sea 35 km north of Madura Island and 100 km from the major industrial city of Surabaya. Bukit Tua's oil and gas field development began with a wellhead platform, a leased floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, and a 100 km subsea gas pipeline. Incremental development phases expanded the field's production capacity. Phase 2A came online in 2017, adding three wells from the initial BTJT-A platform. In May 2020, Phase 3 incorporated an extension of the BTJT-A platform and four more wells. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed Phase 2B, which finally came onstream in April 2022. Phase 2B introduced five wells drilled on a separate BTJT-B platform tied back to BTJT-A via a 3.6 km pipeline. The Bukit Panjang gas field was discovered in September 2014. Its development plan was approved in January 2025 and consists of an unmanned wellhead platform tied-back to Bukit Tua via a 28 km pipeline.
