Khurmala Dome is the northern section of the Kirkuk field and is located 35 kilometres southwest of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region of Iraq (KRI). It has been under the control of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) since 2007. The KAR Group, a Kurdistan based oil services company, operates the field.
