This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Kosmos has made a giant play-opening gas discovery in Mauritania's offshore Block C-8 with its Tortue-1 well. Drilled to test the Tortue West prospect, it encountered 107 metres of net hydrocarbon pay with volumes exceeding the pre-drill gross prospective resources of 2.1 billion boe (circa 12 tcf of gas). Appraisal work is being planned but the operator said seismic suggests the areal extent of Tortue West is approximately 90 square kilometres.
