Loma La Lata Area

Report summary

Loma la Lata is the largest gas field in Argentina. Its discovery in 1977 confirmed that Argentina had substantial indigenous gas reserves at a time when the country had committed itself to relying on imports from Bolivia. The licence area also contains the large Sierra Barrosa field and a number of smaller, more recent gas discoveries. This analysis covers conventional and tight gas development. For the shale oil and associated gas development, please see our separate Loma Campana analysis.
