Macuspana-Muspac is a Pemex business unit in the Southern region. Macuspana is unusual for the region because it contains non-associated gas. Muspac has oil and gas production. Prior to 2012, Macuspana and Muspac were two separate business units. The Macuspana-Muspac fields are located within the Sureste basin in southern Mexico.The Sureste basin is the most important oil and gas basin in Mexico. It contains Pemex’s Southern region onshore oil and gas fields and offshore fields in the shallow water Bay of Campeche
