Mauritania upstream summary
Report summary
Mauritania does not produce any oil and gas at present. Historically, companies have been exploring in Mauritania since the 1960s, but to date only one field - Chinguetti - has produced. The oil field came onstream in 2006, but production was significantly lower than expected and ceased in 2017.
