On 12 June 2013 the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced the awards of the 22nd Norwegian licensing round. It covers 17,467 km2 of mainly arctic, frontier acreage in the Barents and Norwegian Seas, in contrast to the APA round which covers mature areas. 29 companies were awarded 24 licences, of which 20 are in the Barents Sea.
