Discovered in 2012 by Total (now TotalEnergies), Owowo West is located in 650 metres of water, 25 kilometres east of Usan in the neighbouring OML 138 licence. In 2016, ExxonMobil drilled Owowo-3 and discovered what is now known as Owowo West Deep reservoir. We model both reservoirs as a single field.
