OML 148 is predominantly located in Edo State, in the north-western Niger Delta but also straddles portions of Ondo and Delta states. In 2015, the indigenous company Sahara Group, via its subsidiary Enageed Resource Limited (ERL), signed a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for OML 148. Pre-conversion, the block was initially known as OML 1 and operated by the Shell petroleum Development Company (SPDC).
