The Oritupano-Leona block was awarded as an Operating Service Agreement (OSA) in PDVSA's Second Marginal Fields licensing round in July 1993. At the time of award, the fields were producing 8,600 b/d from 15 fields. The re-activation work on the block yielded more oil than originally expected and the operator increased production to a peak of 52,000 b/d in 2006.
