Oryx is the first commercial-scale gas-to-liquid (GTL) project in the world and the first low-temperature Fischer-Tropsch GTL plant outside of South Africa. The plant is located in Ras Laffan Industrial City, 80 kilometres north of Doha and is operated by Oryx GTL Ltd, a joint venture between QatarEnergy and Sasol.
