The ExxonMobil-operated PNG LNG is the most important hydrocarbon development project, producing around 8.6 mmtpa of LNG from gas supplied by fields in the Highlands. TotalEnergies-led Papua LNG is set to follow as the next LNG project. The latest development concept is for 6 mmtpa of LNG production: 4 mmtpa from three electric drive trains and 2 mmpta from capacity reserved at the existing PNG LNG plant. The proposed P'nyang development led by ExxonMobil is the largest potential backfill to the PNG LNG. It has around 4.5 tcf of undeveloped resource.
