The four Parsian Gas fields - Homa, Shanul, Tabnak and Varavi - are located onshore, approximately 230 kilometres south of the city of Shiraz, near the Persian Gulf. Tabnak is the largest of these fields, followed by Shanul and Homa. Varavi's relatively small size made it uneconomic for development until the Tabnak discovery in 1999, which prompted the development of neighbouring fields.
