Report summary
The Pensacola gas field lies in the southern North Sea, 55 kilometres off the north Yorkshire coast. Shell made the discovery in January 2023 in a Zechstein Hauptdolomite carbonate target interval. It was the largest discovery in the southern North Sea since 2011. A successful appraisal was completed in Q1 2025 and we have assumed no material changes to the resource size.
